SummerSlam is less than a week a way and I must say… this new era thing they have going on ain’t bad. You can bet I’ll be watching and remember that you can too… for just 9.99! Anyone remember that? No? Okay then, let’s get to it.
let’s start with Brock Lesnar vs Randy Orton. I like this matchup. Both Lesner and Orton made their WWE debuts in 2002. These two have both won World Championships for the first time at this very event. Just to give you a little history lesson, in 2002, Brock Lesnar captured his first world title when he defeated The Rock at SummerSlam of that year, while Randy Orton defeated Chris Benoit at the 2004 edition of SummerSlam 2 years later. I honestly don’t know who I think will win this one. Brock has been damn near unbeatable since his return to WWE in 2012, but something is telling me not to count Orton out just yet.
Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor is my favorite match on the card. I can’t tell if Rollins is going to turn face or not, but to be honest, that’s a big reason why I’m so intrigued. After being on the shelf for several month Rollins returned to a standing ovation. He has since resorted back to his heel persona.
Then there’s Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler for the WWE championship. While it’s great to see the show off getting a push, it would be a real shocker, in my opinion to see him win the title. Ziggler is an exceptional wrestler but this isn’t 2012/2013. If it were, i’d have more hope. Sadly it’s not. It’s 2016 and Ziggler’s career has been through so many up and down they should call it a rollercoaster… yes. I just compared a man’s career to rollercoaster.
Other matches include John Cena vs. AJ Styles, Sasha Banks vs Charlotte for the WWE Women’s Championship, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson vs The New Day for the WWE Tag Team Championship and much more. With a line up like that, I almost feel guilty that I paid only 9.99…. OK, I’ll stop.
