It might be 5 years since Harry Potter was on our cinema but tonight Warner Bros. via Comic Con part of the Boy Wizard’s wizarding world will be with us this November. JK Rowling‘s Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them has a new UK trailer which will expand the origins, introduce us to North American Hogwarts. Check out the new trailer that has Eddie Redmayne hunting those beasts like half of the population hunting Pokemon Go! lumos maxima!
In an era where many popular franchises are getting remade, rebooted, long awaited sequels or prequels it’s refreshing to soon see something that expands a franchise. If Potter maniacs are concerned the film may lack Potter authenticity, David Yates is directing who directed 4 Harry Potter films. Not forgetting JK Rowling she has taken charge of the scripting, so on paper this film is in safe hands.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident…were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.
The detail on show is fantastic, highly detailed with a big focus on the Newt magizoologist and the No-Maj (American Muggles)reluctance to trust wizards and witches. It may not be as dark as the last Potter films but seems to aim for a more whimsical visual treat that will have nostalgic tropes that will please fans old and new.
Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them will be out in UK&Ireland from 18th November starring Colin Farrell, Ron Perlman, Jon Voight, Katherine Waterston, Samantha Morton, Gemma Chan, Ezra Miller, Dan Fogler, Carmen Ejogo and Alison Sudol.
