Star Trek Beyond Rihanna

A Couple of days ago pop star Rihanna had her upcoming song ‘Sledgehammer’ debut  as part of the recent Star Trek  Beyond Trailer. Tomorrow at IMAX cinemas the official music video will premiere on the big screen but below you can get a look at the video with this preview clip below…

Whilst there’s been a ‘fallout’ with Ghosbusters Fallout Boy song (pardon the punt), Rihanna‘s epic ballad has been greeted with favourable appraise. The music video for the song, directed by Floria Sigismondi(The Runaways), and it’s the first ever music video to be entirely using IMAX Cameras.

Director Sigismondi commented “I have been a fan of Star Trek since I was a little girl. I loved the idea that it explored new territory and the unknown. So being able to be the first director to shoot a music video entirely with IMAX cameras and use this revolutionary technology to explore a different type of new territory was a dream come true.

In a new short Featurette Rihanna discusses her love for Star Trek and the inspiration behind her new song “Sledgehammer” for the upcoming film Star Trek Beyond.

In Star Trek Beyond the Enterprise is in the middle of it’s 5 year mission to explore the galaxy and boldly go where no one has gone before. As the crew try to decide where next on that mission things suddenly go wrong  when they confront new unknown baddie Krall (Idris Elba) who is against all that Federation Of Planets (aka Starfleet) stand for. The attack find s the crew scrambling to a nearby planet, scattered everywhere could mean the crew attempt to re-unite with each other to regain control of the Enterprise.

We’re unsure exactly what film ‘Sledgehammer‘ will play in front off but in USA it’s expected to play in front of The Legend Of Tarzan (which is out the following week in UK). For now please check out the recent 3rd UK trailer below which has Rihanna‘s song playing

Star Trek Beyond is set to arrive in UK, Irish and U.S cinemas from 22nd July. Also starring  Chris Pine Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, John Cho, Anton Yelchin, Joe Taslim, Sofia Boutella.
