In The Greasy Strangler we find ourselves in Los Angeles a tale that follows Ronnie, a man who runs a disco walking tour along with his browbeaten son, Brayden. When a sexy, alluring woman named Janet comes to take the tour, it begins a competition between father and son for her attentions. It also brings about the appearance of an oily, slimy, inhuman maniac who stalks the streets at night and strangles the innocent—soon dubbed “the Greasy Strangler.” Flush your expectations down the toilet, because you have never seen a slasher film or a father-son comedy like this before.
Last Weekend our writer Andrew McArthur watched the movie in London [read his review] described the film as a ‘Cult film in the making‘. John Waters camp style humour, “a trash masterpiece packed with both an amusing and disturbing kitsch garishness.”This film won’t be a film for everyone if anything it will probably scare away anyone who is used to watch mainstream trash. But if you appreciate everything the great art form of film making and the endless number of possibilities it can provide, you might just like this one!
The Greasy Strangler at this moment doesn’t have a UK distributor at this stage.With Ben Wheatley onboard as executive producer and with him been flavour of the month after High-Rise there’s every chance this film will get some sort of release.
