Let’s be honest we all love heroes? Especially heroes who save people’s lives and in Clint Eastwood’s Sully:Miracle On Hudson, 155 people think Tom Hanks is a hero even if he doesn’t think so, watch UK trailer…
Tom Hanks plays Captain Chelsey “Sully” Sullenberger the former US Airways pilot who glided a plane safely onto The Hudson River. A miracle to those onboard a story that marks Clint Eastwood’s return behind the camera after a 2 year spell away, a film shot exclusively on IMAX cameras. It maybe new ground for the veteran actor-director with the cameras will Sully be a compelling story worthy of a true hero?
On January 15, 2009, the world witnessed the “Miracle on the Hudson” when Captain “Sully” Sullenberger glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.
Whatever you think of Eastwood’s most recent films (Jersey Boys, American Sniper) this trailer does a great job of building up the suspense. Whilst the actual feat that happened was truly amazing the film does put alot of focus on the build up and the investigation after the event which does look to make the film viewing a little more rewarding. Once again Tom Hanks is proving why he’s such a great actor as he comes across very convincing fashion, as a man whose had unwanted fame thrust upon him.It seems Hanks has certainly done his homework on his character, meeting the real Chelsey Sullenberger. It doesn’t come across as an impersonation more a copycat of the real man, from his looks straight down to his mannerisms. So could we be looking at a early contender for next year’s Oscars?
Sully: Miracle On Hudson arrives in UK&Irish Cinemas from 2nd December (USA 9th September). The film co-stars Aaron Eckhart,Anna Gunn, Laura Linney, Sam Huntington, and Holt McCallany.
