No clowning around when it comes to a Rob Zombie film as clowns deliver 12 hours of hell to carnival workers in 31, watch the trailer!
From the visionary mind of Rob Zombie comes the horrific story of five carnival workers who are kidnapped the night before Halloween and held hostage in a large compound. At the mercy of their captors, they are forced to play a twisted game or life or death called 31. For the next 12 hours they must fight for their lives against an endless parade of homicidal maniacs.
When it comes to Rob Zombie‘s music and his films they are 2 separate entities as well as fanbases. Comparing the film making career with his Music the road hasn’t been the smoothest ride.Fans and critics divided on his 2009 Halloween remake, even more hatred when the sequel arrived. His last film Lords Of Salem his most stylish (our favourite) his homage to those who inspired him (Bava, Leigh, Lynch, and film Witchfinder General).
For 31 many of those inspirations especially film Carnival of Souls shine through here, visceral original. The one thing Zombie does do well is keep things simple as in the plot which horror fans know is a winning formula. His own traditional tropes of 1970’s setting, grungy, outrageous characters (with crazy names), macabre, plenty of clowns. if you really want to know how insane this film will be just take a look at Malcolm McDowell‘s character name….Father Napoleon Horatio Silas Murder!
31 made it’s debut to a sold out preview at Sundance Film Festival this year. It arrived low key and until it’s format the team have been taking so far. It left with solid positive feedback and now it has a U.S release date of 16th September, no word yet for UK. The film also stars Sheri Moon Zombie,Meg Foster, Elizabeth Daily, Sandra Rosko, and Richard Brake.
