It’s been 20 years since Independence Day and in 1996 many of Independence Day: Resurgence cast were just nippers or not even born. In a new featurette called ‘A candid conversation through the generations’ couple of the new cast Liam Hemsworth and Jessie Usher talk about when they first saw the first film. As this is generational promo Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum talk about those scenes they worked on in that first film, check it out….
We always knew they were coming back. After Independence Day redefined the event movie genre, the next epic chapter Independence Day: Resurgence delivers global spectacle on an unimaginable scale. Using recovered alien technology, the nations of Earth have collaborated on an immense defense program to protect the planet. But nothing can prepare us for the aliens’ advanced and unprecedented force. Only the ingenuity of a few brave men and women can bring our world back from the brink of extinction.
I can’t remember exact time I first saw the first film, but I remember for my 21st in 1996 I went to USA when a trek through a WallMart spoiled the film for me. Then the actual look of the alien was kept secret until the very last minute, however things got spoiled thanks to the merchandise. The toy range of the main characters where revealed including what the actual alien looked and that happened to be the day I walked down the toy aisle in WallMart! The special FX look crazy, spectacular, over the top in a fun way. The actual story won’t win awards but Roland Emmerich is the master of disaster, he makes epic films the way we love them. Pure escapism!
Independence Day: Resurgence is set invade UK cinemas from 23rd June with Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, Vivica A. Fox, Brent Spiner and Judd Hirsch. With new faces joining Liam Hemsworth, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jessie Usher, Maika Monroe, Sela Ward.
