It was one of the highlights of Sundance Film Festival this year and in the year Sundance comes back to London it will grace that festival too. Starring Logan Lerman in what some critics are calling his carer best could the young actor just starred in his career breakthrough film? Watch UK trailer
Based on a celebrated Philip Roth novel (of the same name) the film marks the directorial début feature for Ice Storm/Hulk scribe James Schamus also longtime Ang Lee producer.
Indignation tells the Story of Marcus Messner (Lerman), a whip-smart working-class Jewish boy who moves to Ohio to attend a conservative college, “Indignation” is a coming-of-age story set in the early 1950s. Against the backdrop of the Korean War, Marcus explores his first romance on a campus that often clashes with the cultural liberation he desires.
When you look back at Lerman’s career, for someone who is only 24 year old he has worked for some impressive directors:James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma), David Ayer (Fury) and Darren Aronofosky (Noah) to name a few. Valuable experience for any young actor not forgetting the wisdom of the older actors such as Russell Crowe, Anthony Hopkins, Brad Pitt. So this beautiful look film certainly looks to be the actors stepping stone to bigger better things and been a executive producer too, shows he’s earning respect too.
This June it is set to screen at Sundance London on both Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th June. There will also be a special event “In Conversation with James Schamus” on 4th June. Tickets for all screenings are now on sale here: www.sundance.org/london
