“Throw the switch, half the people on earth will die, but if you don’t the human race will be extinct“, Tom Hanks returns as Robert Langdon humanity’s last hope’. Sony release the first UK trailer for Inferno the next novel from best selling writer Dan Brown, but can Langdon follow the signs to save us all?
After several years in the works instead of going forward we go back to the beginning and see how things lead up to Da Vinci Code. Can our leading symbologist decipher the clues of 14th century Italian poet Dante Alighieri’s “Inferno”? Can he find that virus before anyone else can?
Academy Award winner Ron Howard returns to direct the latest bestseller in Dan Brown’s (Da Vinci Code) billion-dollar Robert Langdon series, Inferno, which finds the famous symbologist (again played by Tom Hanks) on a trail of clues tied to the great Dante himself. When Langdon wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia, he teams up with Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones), a doctor he hopes will help him recover his memories. Together, they race across Europe and against the clock to foil a deadly global plot.
Unless your a hardcore fan this sequel has sneaked up on us like a lion in Serengeti. Compared to Hanks next film A Hologram For A Kingdom (which I saw today) which has very little promotion despite been out in 11 days, Inferno will get the promotion. From what we’ve seen from the trailer, Langdon will embark on a globe-trotting journey but we wouldn’t expect less. The books always deliver the goods and hopefully third time lucky the film will do the books justice too and deliver Howard the critical praise he hopes the franchise will bring him. The secret weapon has to be Hanks, as ever will get bums on seats and as a action star might be an interesting prospect.
Inferno will arrive in UK & Ireland 14th October starring Felicity Jones,Irrfan Khan,Omar Sy,Ben Foster,Sidse Babett Knudsen.
