Deepwater Horizon 1

You wonder if Peter Berg is Michael Bay’s Doppelganger every  film he seems to create oozes Baymeister influence, action packed, ultra-patriotic. In his latest film Deepwater Horizon new UK trailer heroism prevails as Mark Whalberg face disaster in the face to tell the little known true story.

On April 20th, 2010, the world’s largest man-made disaster occurred on the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico. Directed by Peter Berg, this story honours the brave men and women whose heroism would save many on board, and change everyone’s lives forever.

If taking on giant alien robots or putting up with abuse from his talking buddy Teddy bear, Mark Whalberg can handle anything. This time he doesn’t alot of room but the flames are big and lives are at stake again. It’s the second time the Lone Survivor  star teams up with the director but will he survive this time? It’s hard to call on this film as things might be complex, Berg does have an tendency to strip things down to it’s simplest form. This was a controversial  disaster but will Berg dodge the controversy keeping the focus on the characters movements.

As for the trailer itself, you could say its an improvement compared to the first trailer. Not as compelling gives you a slightly better look at the danger, feel of the tension  but how serious this will be we’ll just have to wait and see the film when it’s released in the Autumn. Check out the new character posters Lionsgate have sent us all with dirty faces. But if you need any reason why you should see this, we say Kurt Russell!

Deepwater Horizon arrives in UK in 30th September 2016 (same date for USA too). The film stars Mark Wahlberg, Kurt Russell, John Malkovich, Gina Rodriguez, Dylan O’Brien and Kate Hudson.
