Unless you feel the force or in touch with the darkside, every day rumours come at us from every angle. What to believe in is getting harder but today  worrying ‘gossip’ emerged from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

According to Page Six that Rogue One is in ‘Crisis’ and Disney are not happy with the first cut of the Gareth Edwards directed film.if this article is true this July there will be 4 weeks of re-shoots…

An insider told them “The execs at Disney are not happy with the movie, and ‘Rogue One’ will have to go back into four weeks of expensive reshoots in July.Disney won’t take a back seat, and is demanding changes, as the movie isn’t testing well,”

As I said earlier this is only a rumour and will be treated as an until someone officially confirms any of gossip. However Page Six where the source of who is set to play young Han Solo in the next Star Wars Anthology film, that actor been Alden Ehrenreich (Hail Caesar!). This will attract much attention especially how well Star Wars: The Force Awakens did worldwide, so the interest in future Star Wars film will be high.

Should we be concerned? Not necessarily as reshoots are common place in film making nor does it mean the first cut of the film is an total disaster. But thus film has fallen short of what J.J. Abrams did with Episode VII and that matters to Disney.

A Disney Source to this story also commented “The filmmaking team and the studio always anticipated additional shooting and second unit work to make the film the absolute best it can be, and the actors were aware there would be additional shooting. Coming off ‘The Force Awakens,’ there’s an incredibly high bar for this movie and we have a responsibility to the franchise and to the fans to deliver the best possible movie we can.”

Does this mean Disney are trying to easy away the full creative control from Gareth Edwards whose known to be a risk-taking director who prefers ‘minimal interference’ from studios? It’s alleged studio interference is what led to Edwards leaving Fantastic Four reboot.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set to arrive in cinemas in UK, Ireland and USA on 16th December. Starring  Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whittaker,Mads Mikkelson, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed ,Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen.
