I do hope you don’t suffer from motion sickness as this Friday one of the craziest insane films for 2016 arrives in UK (and U.S) cinemas, Hardcore Henry. Time to take your motion sickness tablets and embrace the totally bonkers TV Spot and get strapped in as film becomes first person shooter style!
Strap in. Hardcore Henry is an original film that was shot completely from the hero’s perspective. You remember nothing. Mainly because you’ve just been brought back from the dead by your wife (Haley Bennett). She tells you that your name is Henry. Five minutes later, you are being shot at, your wife has been kidnapped, and you should probably go get her back. Who’s got her? His name’s Akan (Danila Kozlovsky); he’s a powerful warlord with an army of mercenaries, and a plan for world domination. You’re also in an unfamiliar city of Moscow, and everyone wants you dead. Everyone except for a mysterious British man called Jimmy (Sharlto Copley). He may be on your side, but you aren’t sure. If you can survive the insanity, and solve the mystery, you might just discover your purpose and the truth behind your identity. Good luck, Henry. You’re likely going to need it…
Calling this insane, batshit crazy you wouldn’t be totally wrong. It’s had comparisons to the brilliant The Raid films, in adrenaline it certainly matches that possibly goes even further. This is a POV film as Henry’s eyes become your eyes the viewer giving us an unique perspectives, one similar to many videos games.
Produced by Timur Bekmambetov, with Ilya Naishuller debuting in his first directorial role. It’s a one shot film which is fast become popular choice of filmmaking for directors (recently seen in Victoria). It’s not a easy task to master but it’s one that perfect for this film. This film won’t win awards for acting but for 90 minutes of pure escapism it’s on course to deliver!
Hardcore Henry is set for Friday(8th April) release date. The cast also includes Andrey Dementyev, Dasha Charusha,Sveta Ustinova and a ‘cameo’ role from Tim Roth.
