Following its opening at SXSW on Friday, in which the film was welcomed by glowing reviews, we have a new trailer that reveals it’s certainly a ‘spiritual sequel’ that won’t leave you ‘dazed & Confused’.
Set in the world of 1980s college life, Everybody Wants Some!! follows a freshman’s first weekend of college, experiencing a fraternity-like lifestyle with his hard-partying teammates as they navigate their way through the freedoms and responsibilities of unsupervised adulthood.
Every consistent filmmaker (good or bad) all make their landmark films and Dazed&Confused will always be Linklater’s cult masterpiece, it also launched Matthew McConaughey career too. But what he is is consistent with likes of Before Midnight and Boyhood are regarded by many as some of his best films to date. The film isn’t your straight up comedy, but one in the National Lampoons Animal House mould the type of comedies we don’t see too often. They capture the magic of the decade, a little naughty, but essentially a bro-friendly film that should connect with both sexes. This film has a lot of unknown cast and you wonder if this film could help launch some them like Linklater’s previous films cast into bigger better things.
Like as ever these films that set in certain decades can always deliver some truly great soundtracks and Sportify have released a sampler of the film’s soundtrack. If you enjoy the likes of Tears For Fears, Parliament, Van Halen, Donna Summer, you’ll love this!
