Idris Elba Goes All Out Action In Bastille Day Trailer

BASTILLE DAY - IDRIS ELBA
There’s been calls for British actor Idris Elba to be the next James Bond, but political red tape has prevented so far.In Bastille Day first UK trailer he proves he can handle the action and if he was hand the role he won’t be shaken or stirred.

In Bastille Day, Michael Mason (Richard Madden, ‘Game Of Thrones’) is an American pickpocket living in Paris who finds himself hunted by the CIA when he steals a bag that contains more than just a wallet. Sean Briar (Idris Elba, ‘Luther’, ‘Prometheus’), the field agent on the case, soon realizes that Michael is just a pawn in a much bigger game and is also his best asset to uncover a large-scale conspiracy.

Going against commands, Briar recruits Michael to use his expert pickpocketing skills to help quickly track down the source of the corruption. As a 24hr thrill ride ensues, the unlikely duo discover they are both targets and must rely upon each other in order to take down a common enemy.

Even when we hope certain actors get chances to star in some iconic roles such as Bond, they still have to do those meat and potatoes roles. This film is certainly one of those roles nothing totally original but solid action fare. Elba and Madden seem to a have strong on screen chemistry which is always good but been an British film its curious to know why the cast appear to have American accents. If you enjoy those Luc Besson directed/produced action thrillers this one will be right down your street especially From Paris with Love (John Travolta).

This won’t win Idris Elba that elusive Bond role but will do his CV a lot of favours proving he has the chops to kick ass and serve her majesty with dignity. Bastille Day was originally meant to be out late last year however due to the tragic events in Paris and with the film containing an attack on the city, the film was delayed.

The film co-stars Kelly Reilly and Charlotte Le Bon with film arriving 22nd April in UK.
