Miles Ahead All Rolling Stone reporter Dave Brill (Ewan McGregor) wants is an exclusive interview with the jazz legend himself, Miles Davis (Don Cheadle). What he gets instead is a wild and dangerous ride-along with a recording artist living at his edge, rife with shootouts, car-chases, and a tale of lost love to the singer Frances (Emayatzy Corinealdi).
The marks Cheadle’s feature film directorial debut(He has directed many episodes of House Of Lies),it’s also a film which he has also written the script for too . Miles Ahead has went through the rounds of other directors, even at one point was been considered to be a TV movie. When you look at the quality of shows on the likes of Amazon Prime, Netflix the level of production would have been as good as feature films. However Cheadle’s determination to get the film to big screen is admirable, with a desire for this not to be your standard biopic. This is inspired by true events so rather than go for a ‘sugar coated’ vision of the musician but one that focuses more on Davis lifestyle than his music.
Miles Ahead now has an official UK release date of 22nd April however next month the film will make it’s UK premier at the Glasgow Film Festival. It will be one of the Audience Awards films up against 9 other films you can vote for as the best film of the festival with the film premiering on 20th then on 21st February.
