Ever since last October’s BFI London Film Festival Ben Wheatley‘s homage to J. G. Ballard’s cult thriller novel has became a firm favourite especially with our writer Ian Schultz. Ian calling Wheatley one of British film industry’s true visionaries truly capturing the class struggle happening still here in UK. A movie that may divide audiences that will unsettle some of you and others excite them with it’s dark satire. Ironically as I write this post I am in a High Rise building myself!
The poster itself is not your generic poster size with the length imitating the height of the building. What the poster does tell us with the unlucky soul taking the quicker exit that not all ends well.
1975. Two miles west of London, Dr. Robert Laing moves into his new apartment seeking soulless anonymity, only to find that the building’s residents have no intention of leaving him alone. Resigned to the complex social dynamics unfolding around him, Laing bites the bullet and becomes neighbourly. As he struggles to establish his position, Laing’s good manners and sanity disintegrate along with the building. The lights go out and the lifts fail but the party goes on. People are the problem. Booze is the currency. Sex is the panacea. Only much later, as he sits on his balcony eating the architect’s dog, does Dr. Robert Laing finally feel at home…..

High-Rise stars Tom Hiddleston, Sienna Miller, Luke Evans, Elisabeth Moss and Jeremy Irons. The film will arrive in UK Cinemas from 18th March courtesy of Studiocanal.
