They maybe running, talking, and have a bunny eager to prove why she’s on the force, but in Zootropolis first full trailer when your always on the go last thing you want to be is in ‘Sloth Time’. After a teaser we finally get a first proper look at the film’s plot but only just…
In the modern mammal metropolis of Zootropolis is a city like no other. Comprised of habitat neighborhoods like ritzy Sahara Square and frigid Tundratown, it’s a melting pot where animals from every environment live together—a place where no matter what you are, from the biggest elephant to the smallest shrew, you can be anything. But when optimistic Officer Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) arrives, she discovers that being the first bunny on a police force of big, tough animals isn’t so easy. Determined to prove herself, she jumps at the opportunity to crack a case, even if it means partnering with a fast-talking, scam-artist fox, Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman), to solve the mystery.
When your time is limited and you have only so many hours to solve a murder last place you want be is in the slowest government department ran by a sloth. As this is the Department of Motor vechiles (or DVLA in UK) personally I don’t drive but I know you can wait an enternity so they are playing on irony. It’s a joke that may play better with parents than their kids but it seems there’s plenty going on for for the film’s intended audience to adore this. It’s Disney’s nod to the buddy cop movie and the convential detective narrative that’s delving into Who Framed Roger Rabbit a noir-ish fun film I loved. It feels as if this one will play on the fun element of relationships rather than Disney’s recent trend of fun and emotion.
Zootropolis will arrive in UK 25th March 2016 (4th March USA) co-starring the voice talents of J.K. Simmons, Alan Tudyk, and Idris Elba.
