Watch The Weirdly Madcap The Lobster UK Trailer

When it comes to a Yorgos Lanthimos film nothing is straightforward and in his English language debut The Lobster certainly lives up to his reputation. Tonight we get a look at the UK trailer which shows Colin Farrell undying but unconventional love to woman he ‘loves’ or he’ll turn into….A lobster!

The Lobster is a love story set in the near future, when single people, according to the rules of The City, are arrested and transferred to The Hotel. There they are obliged to find a matching mate in 45 days. If they fail, they are transformed into an animal of their choosing and released into The Woods. A desperate Man escapes from The Hotel to The Woods where The Loners live, and he falls in love, although it is against The Loner’s rules. This is a blackly funny love story set in a near future where finding love is a matter of life or death.

Lanthimos’ films are certainly head scratchers. You either love his films (Dogtooth & Alps) or you don’t but you can’t argue what he does deliver is widely ingenious. It delivered such a buzz at Cannes Canadians this month will get a taste of Greek auteur’s surreal sense of humour before it arrives at London Film Festival in October. For his English language feature debut The Lobster does possess an impressive cast of Rachel Weisz, Léa Seydoux, John C Reilly, Ben Whishaw, Olivia Colman and Michael Smiley.

The UK and Irish cinema release of The Lobster will be 3 days after it’s London Film Festival release on 16th October courtesy of Picturehouse Entertainment.
