On the first day of September the month some Christian Americans who believe this will be the month he will rise again and the destruction of the world, We get a first look at the biblical story of the Resurrection of Jesus we hope to enjoy Spring 2016.
Risen follows the epic Biblical story of the Resurrection, as told through the eyes of a non-believer. Clavius (Fiennes), a powerful Roman Military Tribune, and his aide Lucius (Tom Felton), are tasked with solving the mystery of what happened to Jesus in the weeks following the crucifixion, in order to disprove the rumors of a risen Messiah and prevent an uprising in Jerusalem.
The life, death and resurrection of Jesus has been a subject of many films as have many of biblical stories, Risen is hoping to take an angle to this story that hasn’t been seen. From the perspective of the Romans, but will this film offend or inform? You could say this film will be down to your own religious beliefs, is Fiennes character a ‘doubting thomas’ or simply someone with anger issues?
If September isn’t the end of the world as we know it, Risen will arrive in UK& Ireland in March 2016, with .U.S release been 22nd January 2016. The film also stars Cliff Curtis, Maria Botto, Mark Killeen, Antonio Gil and Stephen Hagan with Kevin Reynolds (Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves) directing.
