Live on that hunch that things might be to perfect to be true, in The UK trailer for The Perfect Guy Michael Ealy is the too perfect a ‘catch’. In a throwback to the 1990’s sexy thrillers charm becomes the stalker…
In The Perfect Guy after a painful breakup, successful lobbyist Leah Vaughn (Sanaa Lathan) jumps into a passionate relationship with a charming stranger (Michael Ealy). When her ex-boyfriend (Morris Chestnut) resurfaces in her life she has to figure out who she should trust and who she should fear.
Apart from the solid Morris Chesnut, The Perfect Guy looks like it maybe one of those movies you blink you miss. Overshadowed by big release (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2)which will probably be forgotten about 1 week later (Black Mass, Bridge Of Spies, Carol the following week). If you love the trashy erotic tone of 1990s flicks that might have seen the likes of Madonna or Willem Dafoe may have starred in, you may just enjoy this. Nice touch using a sultry but mediocre version of the song ‘I Put A Spell On You’ rather than overloading it with dialog, just a shame this one feels more like a ‘filler’ between bigger films. The trailer does convey the sexiness and eeriness the film is trying to deliver.
The Perfect Guy will be released in UK&Ireland by Sony Pictures on 20th November co-starring Rutina Wesley, Kathryn Morris, Holt McCallany and Charles S. Dutton.
