From the boy wizard to an iconic horror character’s assistant, Daniel Radcliffe‘s Victor Frankenstein is coming this December today the first trailer is Alive! Live! Can 20th Century Fox Pictures end the recent scourge of poor reboots/new takes with fresh take on Mary Shelley’s classic story?
After 8 years of watching him grow up as Harry Potter we’ve followed the young British actor spreading his wings into ‘relationships’ with horses in Broadway. To cameos in many films to getting ‘horny’ in horrors and now we’ll see why he let his hair grow last year to play Igor, Dr Frankenstein’s assistant.
James McAvoy and Daniel Radcliffe star in a dynamic and thrilling twist on a legendary tale. Radical scientist Victor Frankenstein (James McAvoy) and his equally brilliant protégé Igor Strausman (Daniel Radcliffe) share a noble vision of aiding humanity through their groundbreaking research into immortality. But Victor’s experiments go too far, and his obsession has horrifying consequences. Only Igor can bring his friend back from the brink of madness and save him from his monstrous creation.
Radcliffe maybe Frankenstein’s assistant, what’s different from Golden era Igor and this new version, he’s a supporter rather than ‘servant’. Also it looks like the relationship with the doctor and Igor their ups and downs than Frankenstein himself. Whilst the CGI might be a little questionable we can say this one is far better than I Frankenstein, director Paul McGuignan has directed several episodes of Sherlock a good sign, ironically a Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes feel to it. Science or monsters, Victor Frankenstein is one which may slide into the fun element rather than the dramatic one, meet your makers!
The film is set for a 4th December UK&Irish release (USA 25th November), starring Jessica Brown Findlay, Andrew Scott, Freddie Fox.
