Keep your friends close, your enemies closer and in the new UK Trailer for Black Mass Johnny Depp does that but he creates an ‘Unholy Alliance’ with FBI! After years hiding behind the fictional characters Depp dips his foot back into real life world but could we be saying 4 time Oscar winner in 6 months time?

In Black Mass we go back to the 1970s South Boston, FBI Agent John Connolly (Joel Edgerton) persuades Irish mobster Jimmy Bulger (Depp) to collaborate with the FBI in order to eliminate their common enemy: the Italian mob. The drama tells the story of this unholy alliance, which spiraled out of control, allowing Whitey to evade law enforcement while consolidating his power and becoming one of the most ruthless and dangerous gangsters in Boston history.

The question many will ask how could one of the cities most ruthless criminals work for his common enemy whilst doing what he did best becoming America’s most wanted? What third trailer does what the previous two doesn’t is expand on the film’s plot and what made him a legendary figure in Boston. This film is coming at the right time for Depp’s career as we know what he’s done has been one slippery downward spiral. With Scott Cooper directing, a filmmaker seen by the acting fraternity as a ‘actors Director’ this might just be a ‘holy alliance’ bringing critical acclaim.

Black Mass will make it’s world premiere in around 4 weeks time in Venice before heading to Toronto film festival and arriving in UK&Ireland 13th November. The film co-stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Dakota Johnson, Rory Cochrane, Jesse Plemons, Peter Sarsgaard and Kevin Bacon.
