Fresh from winning the top award for a British film at the Edinburgh International Film Festival at the weekend, comes the new trailer for Andrew Haigh’s (Looking, Weekend) spectacular 45 Years. The film, which is adapted from David Constantine’s short story ‘In Another Country‘, has already been a big hit at the Berlin Film Festival in February (you can read our review from Berlin here), with the lead actors Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay both picking up the Best Acting awards, before it hit the world’s oldest festival last week in Edinburgh (you can read our review from Edinburgh here).
Synopsis – Follow the life of Kate Mercer (Charlotte Rampling) during the five days leading up to her forty-fifth wedding anniversary. Party plans are going well, until a letter arrives for her husband (Tom Courtenay) informing him that the body of his first love has been found frozen in the icy glaciers of the Swiss Alps. As their anniversary celebrations grow closer, they delve further into their past, leaving their future in question.
45 Years also stars Geraldine James and is released in UK cinemas from 28th August. I highly recommend you seek this gem out come August.
