In the past week stateside the nation’s big channel release the info of whats cancelled, whats survived, what new is coming for The Fall and those lovable felt puppets are back.ABC (part of Disney Family) are bringing Jim Henson‘s beloved puppets back but in a “contemporary, documentary-style” a mockamentary aimed now more at a’adult friendly’ for those ‘kids of all ages’. The Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady will be behind this version and he won’t be new to the Muppets Family as he was one time Fraggle Rock writer (and Jim Henson Hour too). The show will still be family friendly but taking a more Modern Family,30 Rock, The Office feel taking in Kermit and Co’s personal lives off course his highly tumultuous relationship with Miss Piggy.
Still expect the Meta style brand of humour, the long list of cameo appearances and The Muppets TV show will take a 8pm Tuesdays slot. If all goes well the UK & Irish fans can enjoy the show too, hopefully this new show will have learned lessons of their 1990’s short lived The Muppets Tonight show.
The Muppets return to primetime with a contemporary, documentary-style show. For the first time ever, a series will explore the Muppets’ personal lives and relationships, both at home and at work, as well as romances, breakups, achievements, disappointments, wants and desires. This is a more adult Muppet show, for “kids” of all ages.
