In Nancy Meyer‘s comedy DeNiro finds retirement hard but been a ‘senior intern’ at a fashion site be the right movie?
The Intern De Niro stars as Ben Whittaker, a 70-year-old widower who has discovered that retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Seizing an opportunity to get back in the game, he becomes a senior intern at an online fashion site, founded and run by Jules Ostin (Anne Hathaway).
This certainly delivers a ‘different’ perspective of the usual traits of a rom-com, then again this is a Nancy Meyers rom-com, nothing is as straight forward. We love the twist on the ‘senior intern’ proving in today’s workforce if you have the ability you should get the job no matter your age. It’s a strong cast and when you have 2 Oscar winners as the leads Robert DeNiro and Anne Hathaway they play each other you can see they will become office buddies as the chemistry between is strong.
This one will be down to, do you like rom-coms or do you want to see 2 great actors spark off against each other? The Intern looks a good flick to bring you back to earth after the action pack blockbusters that will be invading our screens the next few months. The film will arrive in UK&Ireland from 2nd October co-starring Rene Russo, Andrew Rannells, Adam DeVine, Nat Wolff, Anders Holm and Reid Scott.
