Jason Statham maybe an international action star and all round tough guy, but he, alongside a handful of others (notably Dwayne Johnson) doesn’t take himself too seriously. This is showcased in the newly released clip from Paul Feig’s Spy, where Statham’s character gives bumbling new spy Susan (Melissa McCarthy) a lesson in how to be a ‘real spy’.
Synopsis – Susan Cooper is an unassuming, desk bound CIA analyst, and the unsung hero behind the Agency’s most dangerous missions. But when her partner (Jude Law) falls off the grid and another top agent is compromised, she volunteers to go deep undercover to infiltrate the world of a deadly arms dealer, and prevent a global disaster.
The winning team of director Paul Feig and star Melissa McCarthy (who have previously worked together on Bridesmaids and The Heat, and of course are now working on the upcoming Ghostbusters film) has already garnered some favourable reviews for Spy, after it premiered at this year’s SXSW festival in Texas.
Joining McCarthy, Law, and Statham are Allison Janney, Rose Byrne, and bizarrely, Miranda Hart. Spy is released in UK cinemas on 5th June, and you can enjoy the latest trailer for the film below.
