For better or worse, we are currently going through the age of the remakes and reboots. One such remake is that of Tobe Hooper’s 1982 Poltergeist.
The new film produced by Sam Raimi and directed by Gil Kenan updates the classic tale of the suburban family whose house is haunted by an evil force, and sets it in today’s modern world. When the ghostly apparitions increase their attacks and hold the youngest daughter captive, the family must come together to rescue her before she is gone forever.
The new featurette for the film features a brief interview with Raimi and Kenan discussing a bit more about the family and shows some new footage from the film.
20th Century Fox have also released a new poster mirroring the famous TV scene from the original.
With a great team behind it and a cast including Sam Rockwell and Rosemarie DeWitt, Poltergeist looks like it could be promising. You can view the trailer here if you need a bit more convincing however.
Find out if it stands up to the original when the film is released in UK cinemas on 29th May.
