Xavier Dolan is the wunderkind of the moment. At only 25 years-old he has already made four features, and later this week sees the release of his fifth, Mommy. Mommy took home the third-place Jury Prize from Cannes, and looks to be Dolan’s biggest film to date.
The film focuses on the relationship between a spirited single mum and her unpredictable, 15 year-old son who suffers from ADHD. Burdened with full custody of her son, the mother struggles to cope, however the strange new neighbour offers to help.
In this clip from the film we see the mother, Anne Dorval reassure her new neighbour, Suzanne Clément about her son’s (Antoine-Olivier Pilon) erratic behaviour, insisting that due to his ADHD, “you never get bored with Steve“.
Mommy is directed, written, and produced by Dolan, and is the first of his films in which he has not acted. The film will be released in UK cinemas on 20th March and you can view the trailer below.
