Mark Ruffalo is one of those actors that balances blockbusting, crowd-pleasing films such as his role in Avengers Assemble, with more dramatic, award-friendly roles, such as in The Kids Are Alright and Foxcatcher (he was Oscar nominated for both roles) perfectly. This summer will see him reprise his role as The Hulk in the latest Avengers film, but we will also see him tackle the role of man with manic depression in Infinitely Polar Bear.
The film tells the story of Cameron, a husband and father who suffers from manic depression, and tries to look after and raise his two daughters in Boston after his wife is accepted to business school at Columbia, in New York.
Infinitely Polar Bear is the feature film debut from director Maya Forbes, who also wrote the film which is based on her childhood. Judging from the trailer, it looks like Forbes paints a sensitive tale with light-hearted moments coming from the Cameron’s daughters embarrassment at his erratic behaviour.
Also starring Zoe Saldana, the film is set for a US release on 14th June, and according to Empire will arrive in the UK later in the year.
