You know how much we love The Stath her but life goes one for one of the franchises he made his with, The Transporter as it fall prey to the reboot with new lead and first trailer for The Transporter Refueled.
Frank Martin is returning with Game Of Thrones star Ed Skrein filling Jason Statham shoes, EuropaCorp onboard again with Brick Mansions director Carmie Dellamarre behind the lens.In The Transporter Refueled Frank Martin is a freelancer transporter, lives by a set of simple 3 rules, never change the deal, no names and never open the package.
When Frank is hired by cunning femme fatale Anna and her three stunning sidekicks, he quickly discovers he’s been played. Anna and her cohorts have kidnapped his father (Ray Stevenson) in order to coerce Frank into helping them take down a ruthless group of Russian human traffickers. Fueled by revenge, he will break all his rules and stop at nothing to rescue his father in this action-packed thrill ride across the French Riviera.
The basic premise from the original franchise are all there with some notable twists been the father is kidnapped and the daughter (s) are behind the job. Expect all the usual car chases, fight scenes are there however there’s lot to be skeptical about this new version.
Whilst things may look frantic, franchise overall not greatest however you can’t replace Statham with a lesser known actor. Despite Been in Game Of Thrones I had no idea who Skrein is though in his defense The Stath was an unknown quanity when Transporter arrived on the scene so this could be a launch pad for the British actor. Our main concern is the director whose debut film Brick Mansions was nothing but a like for like disaster and on evidence of this trailer the changes look subtle .
The Transporter Refueled is set to arrive in UK, Ireland and USA on 19th June co starring Loan Chabanol, Radivoje Bukvic, Gabriella Wright, Anatole Taubman and Tatiana Pajkovic .
