Spy will be director Paul Feig and actress Melissa McCarthy’s third film together, after the incredibly popular and well-received Bridesmaids, and The Heat. The pair clearly enjoy working together, as they will also be teaming up to bust some ghosts in next year’s all-female Ghostbusters reboot. After premiering to positive reviews at this year’s SXSW festival in Texas it looks like Spy could be another hit for the pair.
The film follows unassuming CIA analyst Susan (McCarthy), one of the agency’s secret weapons. After her partner (Jude Law) falls off the grid, and another top agent (Jason Statham) is compromised, Susan volunteers to go deep undercover in order to prevent a deadly disaster at the hands of an arms dealer.
In the new posters for the film, we get introduced to Law’s smooth spy, Statham’s know-it-all character, and McCarthy’s middle-aged Susan.
Spy also stars Rose Byrne, Alison Janney, Bobby Cannavale, and oddly, Miranda Hart, and will be released in UK cinemas on 5th June.
