Meet Mr Laing In First Image For Ben Wheatley’s High-Rise

It’s no common knowledge we’re not the biggest fans of Ben Wheatley‘s films (we do love Sightseers) however we are intrigued to see this one, meet Mr Laing in first image for High-Rise.

We’ll be honest we don’t totally hate Wheatley’s films more of frustration but been fans of JG Ballard‘s books this has added an extra level of excitement.  Empire have exclusively revealed Mr Laing who is been played by Tom Hiddleston the film’s anti-hero, an image that will excite TPM writer Emily who is Tom’s biggest fan!

High-Rise-Tom-Hiddleston

From the plot of the book High-Rise takes us to London 1975 delivers a shocking account of the social breakdowns of class, within the elegant 40 storey tower block. A block full of affluent tenants hell-bent on an orgy of destruction, cocktail parties as isolated inhabitants are driven to recreate the laws of the jungle with primal rage. A dystopian world  full of disillusionment as the once luxurious apartments become battlegrounds for attacks on ‘enemy floors’.

High-Rise will be the Kill List director’s first film in two years and when you look back at what he has delivered the dark vision of humanity fits perfectly into Wheatley’s vision. The film  also co-stars Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller, Elisabeth Moss, Luke Evans and Stacy Martin.
