Sean Penn Has A Particular Set Of Skills In First The Gunman Trailer

First it was Liam Neeson now those particular set of skills have been passed over to another actor, as it’s now lock ‘n’ load for Sean Penn in the first international trailer for The Gunman.

The action genre has always been a genre that many of actors  would walk on eggshells due to the typecasting, many finding themselves stuck in it but when an Oscar winner enters people take notice. Post Madonna days Penn has gained an reputation as been one of Hollywood’s more serious actors so it’s intriguing when he steps out his comfort zone. If anything it says he has a fun element to his craft and in this star-studded thriller he certainly got a fight on his hands in order to survive.

The Gunman sees Penn as a former special forces op/military contractor Jim Terrier who is suffering from PTSD who must go on the run across  in order to clear his name. All he wants is to be with his true love (Jasmine Trinca) and time to recover from his condition but nothing is straightforward when your ex-military.

This one is directed by Pierre Morel who directed the best of all the Taken films, the first one so we know the story, the action will be decent if not intense. Penn himself doesn’t call it a ‘Action film’ but one with a ‘human side’ to it, whatever you think of this we do think Penn looks naturally awesome in this role.

The Gunman  will be released in UK & Ireland from 20th March, the film co-stars Idris Elba, Javier Bardem, Ray Winstone and Mark Rylance.
