2011 He delivered a feral Christmas Tale with Rare Exports, 4 years on Jalmari Helander is asking all of us to stand up and run as Samuel L Jackson fights for his life in first trailer for Big Game.
The Finnish filmmaker like many world cinema directors when they create a successful film their road will lead to the bright lights of tinsel town but with this action/comedy he’ll take a slower approach. If your going become a man in Big Game why prove yourself saving the President Of The United States of America or for this film the ‘Mutha-F**kin’ President?
This has a big 1980’s action film flavour to it, so the premise will O.T.T and ridiculous ith Jackson playing the President who finds himself stranded in a forest somewhere in Finland. With Air Force One now grounded he finds himself vulnerable to the terrorists who attacked and he must rely on a 13 year old Oskari (Onni Tommila, Rare Exports). Will saving the most powerful man in the world help Oskari complete the traditional ritual and prove his worth to be a ‘man’ too?
This played Toronto last September leaving with mixed reviews however you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to know that this is purely a stressbuster than a awards chaser. Tone wise this is pure cheese that never really proves it wants to be taken seriously as it’s all about the fun element. A bit clunky at times but most of all, it’s all about the entertainment and will be nice relief from the hectic blockbuster Summer we have ahead of us too! Just don’t expect Jackson to be dropping the F-Bombs as this one looks like it’ll be a 12A
Big Game also stars Jim Broadbent, Ray Stevenson, Felicity Huffman, Ted Levine, Victor Garber and will arrive in UK&Ireland on 8th May.
