Next Friday The Wachowski’s Jupiter Ascending will finally transcend on UK/Irish cinemas and Warner Bros have now revealed Terry Gilliam is in the film , check out the official image.
It’s been gossip wagon for nearly two year is the Monty Python turn director in The sci-fi epic adventure and Warner Bros have now delivered the evidence. It seems his role maybe small but it pays homage to his cult classic Brazil, nice little treat for fans of the filmmaker. Here’s what the official production notes say about Gilliam’s role…
Actor, writer and director Terry Gilliam meanwhile takes a wickedly humorous turn as the Seal and Signet Minsiter, a malcontented civil servant in a labyrinth of bureaus comprising the Commonwealth Ministry, where Jupiter must secure her royal credentials. Film fans will recognize the homage to Gilliam’s masterwork, “Brazil.” “Playing a cranky old fart is quite easy,” says Gilliam. “Just bend over, hunch up and start talking in weird voices and off you go. It’s the first time in a very long time that I’ve done anything in front of the camera, but the Wachowskis asked if I could be this ancient clerk in this Brazil-like world, and how could I say no to them? I’ve always been a fan. They’re smart and they do great work.”
Jupiter Ascending stars as Mila Kunis as Jupiter Jones a young woman who spends time cleaning peoples homes endless run of bad breaks despite signs predicting her for great things. When genetically engineered ex-military caine (Channing Tatum) arrives on Earth to track Jupiter she finally gets a glimpse into the the extraordinary destiny that waits for her…one that leaves the cosmos in balance.
