The Grand Budapest Hotel Leads The Nominations For 2015 BAFTAs

The Awards season is well under way and today The nominations for 2015 BAFTA Awards aka EE British Academy Film Awards and Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel checks in the leading Nominee with 11 nominations.

The BAFTAs for years has been seen as the precursor to who may win the big one The Oscars however looking at how the American awards have been going there a number of snubs. The likes of Selma which hasn’t been released in UK, but just recently stateside many critics talking about David Oyewolo’s performance as Martin Luther King Jr worthy of an nomination.Other Absences include Timothy Spall for Mr Turner, director Mike Leigh was also snubbed.

the-big-revealRegular BAFTA host Stephen Fry and The Hunger Games star Sam Claflin where up early (7.35am to be precise) to unveil this years nominees. Behind the surprise leader of the pack The Grand Budapest Hotel is Birdman and The Theory of Everything both bagging 10 awards with The Imitation Game with 9. Boyhood and Whiplash (out 16th January) both bagged themselves 5 with Mr. Turner, Nightcrawler and Interstellar receive four nominations. Pride has three nominations.

Jake Gyllenhaal completes the Leading Actor line-up for Nightcrawler, with Amy Adams leading the pack in the leading actress category for Big Eyes. Could it be fifth time lucky for Adams? She has some strong competition from Reese Witherspoon (Wild), Julianne Moore (Still Alice), Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) and Felicity Jones (the theory of everything).

Mark Ruffalo and Steve Carell both receive Supporting Actor nominations for Foxcatcher (out today) with Imelda Staunton leading the light in support actress category.

Will The Grand Budapest Hotel surprise all the critics and actually sweep the board? All will be revealed whenthe EE British Academy Film Awards take place on Sunday 8 February at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London.

The ceremony will be hosted by Stephen Fry and will be broadcast exclusively on BBC One and BBC One HD, preceded by a red carpet show on BBC Three. The ceremony is also broadcast in all major territories around the world.
