Inherent Vice gets a new poster

inherent vice last supper

The much-anticipated film Inherent Vice gets a new poster, depicting the vast cast mimicking Leonardo da Vinci’s The Last Supper.  Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson (MagnoliaThere Will Be Blood), and based on the novel by Thomas Pynchon, Inherent Vice sets to be one of the must-see films of the coming months, already receiving critical acclaim at its world premiere at the New York Film Festival.

Set in the late sixties, the story revolves around drug-addled, private investigator Doc Sportello (Joaquin Phoenix), and his investigation into the death of his former girlfriend.  With a noir vibe, and a darkly comic story, Inherent Vice looks to be a lot of fun, and a nice antidote to some of the more sombre films that are released around awards season.

Boasting a cast that includes Academy Award winners Reese Witherspoon (Walk The Line), and Benicio Del Toro (Traffic); and Academy Award nominees Joaquin Phoenix (Gladiator, Walk The Line, The Master), Josh Brolin (Milk), and Owen Wilson (The Royal Tenenbaums), Inherent Vice looks like a film that’s not to be missed.

Here’s the teaser trailer to whet your appetite.

Also starring Jena Malone, Martin Short, Maya Rudolph, and Katherine Waterston, Inherent Vice is released in UK cinemas on January 30th 2015.
