One disadvantage of having your Digital TV package with Virginmedia is their reluctance to let their subscribers access to Sky Atlantic missing great shows like Penny Dreadful. Been a fanatic of all things horror it’s been very frustrating but fans of the show will be excited to know Season 2 will be with us very soon and today we have a look at the first promo.

The production is still ongoing over in Dublin, Ireland which will consist of 10 new episodes with Eva Green and Josh Harnett returning as Vanessa & Ethan facing new challenges. The trailer suggests the new chapter will be a more bloodier encounter….

Sadly as I haven’t seen any of season 1 I can only go on the buzz those fortunate to have enjoyed the series and that buzz is good. Any show that tries to re-invent the iconic characters of the Golden age of horror like Dracula, Dorian Gray and Victor Frankenstein gets my seal of approval. What’s even better they don’t fall into the trap Hollywood falls into constantly by staging the show in present time, but going for the era they where created in

No word on exactly when Sky Atlantic will be screening Season 2 of Penny Dreadful, but if it’s like all the other American TV shows probably days after it’s U.S debut.

Penny Dreadful was created by Skyfall writer John Logan and also stars Timothy Daton, Harry Treadaway, Simon Russell Beale and Helen McCroy.

This season, Vanessa and Ethan form a deeper bond as the group, including Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton), Dr. Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway), and Sembene (Danny Sapani), unite to banish the evil forces that threaten to destroy them. Meanwhile, Dorian Gray (Reeve Carney), the Creature (Rory Kinnear) and Brona (Billie Piper) are all waging battles of their own. Patti LuPone will guest star as a mysterious character of great importance in Vanessa’s past. Helen McCrory returns as Evelyn Poole (a.k.a. Madame Kali), the seductive spiritualist who will pose a unique threat to our protagonists this season, along with Simon Russell Beale, who is back as eccentric Egyptologist Ferdinand Lyle. Additional guest stars include Douglas Hodge as a Scotland Yard investigator; Sarah Greene as Poole’s powerful daughter, Hecate; and Johnny Beauchamp as a man with a singular past.
