The House of The Mouse has unleashed the force and you can feel that force Star Wars Episode VII aka Star Wars: The Force Awakens, first official teaser trailer things are disturbed!
Long rumored to be shown in the previews before The Hobbit: Battle Of The Five Armies (in USA at least, UK unsure) Disney Pictures UK have unleashed an early Christmas present but it’s a short one but an epic one too!
Running at just over 85 seconds mark the trailer certainly delivers a tease, but no old school Star Wars characters (Skywalker, Leila, Han Solo, etc…), which is fine for now. Our main concern is, does it show evidence of post Lucas but a back to basics approach as JJ Abrams promised? Yes. the values, traditions of Star Wars universe look to be there but also even the special fx look more at home rather than the horrible green screens over used in the previous three films.
“there has been an awakening. Have you felt it?” who is that sinister voiceover we hear, is it our Sith enemy? that cloaked warrior we glimpse at in the trailer (see image below)? Who ever it is sets up the the film’s title nicely. Is It Benedict Cumberbatch delivering the voiceover? then again Adam Driver, Andy Serkis names have popped many times too.If it’s Serkis which side he will be fighting for we don’t really know at this stage as he could be giving one of those Gandalf style voiceovers we heard a lot off in Lord Of The Rings/Hobbit Franchises.
This trailer is all about the new generation and first question people will ask why is John Boyega in a stormtrooper uniform? Is The Clone idea been thrown out the window or is he a defector? But what we do adore is the epicness of the trailer especially the action scene which shows x-fighter with Oscar Isaac and the legendary Millenium Falcon but is Han Solo driving the spaceship? What is Daisy Ridley driving part of Optimus Prime’s hand or USB stick? Now you can’t beat some John Williams score, yes that is a John Williams score!
Abrams certainly sticking to his guns with Stars Wars : The Force Awakens thats classic Star Wars and that’s all we can ask for!It maybe 27 sleeps until this Christmas, but mark it in your diaries kids 380 sleeps until Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrives, 18th December 2015 to be precise starring Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher,Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o Domhnall Gleeson, Andy Serkis, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, Warwick Davis and Max Von Sydow.
