‘If it’s in a word or in a look you cant get rid of The Babadook’, this autumn we’ll be rumbling to the sound of 3 sharp knocks as The Babadook unleashes the scares on UK cinephiles. Today we get our first glimpse of the terror we can expect in The Babadook in the UK online trailer which delivers without spoiling the fun!

Since it’s appearance at this year’s Sundance Film Festival it was a film many of us had no clue about but now it’s a film horror fans are so looking forward and so are we. Baba baba dook-dook dook!

The premise of the film is set around a a single mother (Esie Davies) who is recovering from the violent death of her husband few years earlier. As she attempts to help her six year old son Samuel(Noah Wiseman) she reads him a story from a ‘cursed book’ called Mister Babadook, it seems she unleashed a evil monster that is hellbent making things worse.

Very few horror films live up to their billing of been ‘truly frightening’ but from those critics who have seen this film The Babadook is living up to that reputation. Inventive, masterful are words you don’t hear too often in the horror genre which excites us very much!

24th October (USA 28th November) is the date UK cinephiles will mark in their diaries when the film opens in UK however 23rd August horror fans get a chance to enjoy the UK premiere at Film4 Frightfest in London.

Synopsis

Six years after the violent death of her husband, Amelia (Essie Davis) is at a loss. She struggles to discipline her ‘out of control’ 6-year-old, Samuel (Noah Wiseman), a son she finds impossible to love. Samuel’s dreams are plagued by a sinister monster he believes is coming to kill them both.

When a disturbing storybook called ‘The Babadook’ turns up at their house, Samuel is convinced that the Babadook is the creature he’s been dreaming about. His hallucinations spiral out of control and as he becomes more unpredictable and violent, Amelia is genuinely frightened by her son’s behaviour.

But when Amelia begins to see glimpses of a sinister presence all around her, it slowly dawns on her that the thing Samuel has been warning her about may be real.
