After a long run on the festival circuit The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet has finally gotten a release date and this afternoon we can enjoy the official UK Trailer.
Directed by Amelie, Micmacs director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet is based around the novel by Reif Larsen. The movie tells the story of about a Montana whizz kid T.S Spivet (Kyle Cartlett) a gifted scientist whose invention perpetual motion machine wins him a exclusive Baird Prize. He packs his case and heads to Smithsonian Institution in Washington to collect his prize however the committee who choose T.S as their winner haven’t realised he’s only a 1o year old boy!
The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet marks the return to English language for the eccentric French director but looking at the gorgeous visuals the surreal family film suits his directorial style . There is a tone that’s similar to Hugo very quirky, charming very playful which will capture the imaginations of the film’s demographic perfectly.
Entertainment One have bought the UK rights and The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet will be released on 13th June , co-starring Helena Bonham Carter, Judy Davis, Callum Keith Rennie.
T.S. Spivet lives on a remote ranch in Montana with his parents, his sister Gracie and his brother Layton. A gifted child with a passion for science, he has invented a perpetual motion machine, for which he has been awarded the prestigious Baird Prize by the Smithsonian Institution in Washington.
He leaves a note for his family and hops a freight train to make his way across the United States and receive his prize.
But no one there suspects that the lucky winner is a ten-year-old child with a very dark secret…
