Before you jump with excitement the release date is for American cinephiles not the UK release date however it does mean we’re a step closer to a release as a English subtitled version is in the process of been ready for release.
The Raid 2 picks up a couple of hours after the first film we meet Rama (Iko Uwais) is once again undercover to infiltrate the Jakarta crime underworld. Rama’s main concern is the safety of his own family he must also uncover the root of corruption amongst the police, let the bodies hit the floor!
The Raid 2 will make it’s world premiere at next month’s Sundance film festival before making it’s cinematic premier when it’s released in U.S on 28th March. Sony Picture Classics are distributing the film State side , at this time no UK distributor has been announced yet but we expect that to change after Sundance with the Summer 2014 looking a possibility. We do also have a hunch Glasgow Film Festival probably the Film4 Frightfest strand or the main London Frightfest.
We’re like sleepless kids on the night before Christmas eagerly waiting to open their presents and what makes me even more excited is that The Raid 2 plot was meant to be the first film’s plot! Thanks to the success of the first film Gareth Evans got a bigger budget and here’s hoping he delivers the goods once more.
