Double Paranoia In New UK trailer For The Double

Russian Literature and Hollywood have not always had the best of relationships but throw in a British comic actor come Director Richard Ayoade things change. Paranoia, double trouble explodes in the New trailer for The Double.

Starring Jesse Eisenberg The Double is the follow up film is based on the novella of Dostoyevsky about Simon (Eisenberg) a man who is slowly driven to madness thanks to his Doppelganger James who is better at everything he does.

The Double  is the follow up to the critically acclaimed Submarine and this short trailer reminded me alot of Aki Kaurismäki’s Le Havre in tone and visually. Looks totally crazy, Ayoade has an unique style which will appeal to arthouse fans but also mainstream cinephiles thanks to its charm The film played Toronto Film Festival this year to positive reviews so if you ever had the notion you have a double somewhere in the world this movie might prove you  the existence but do you really  want to meet them if they are much better everything than you?

The Double will be released by Studiocanal in UK on 4th April 2014 with the film co-starring Mia Wasikowska, Wallace Shawn, Rade Serbedzija, James Fox, and Yasmin Paige.

Simon is a timid man, scratching out an isolated existence in an indifferent world. He is overlooked at work, scorned by his mother, and ignored by the woman of his dreams. He feels powerless to change any of these things. The arrival of a new co-worker, James, serves to upset the balance. James is both Simons exact physical double and his opposite – confident, charismatic and good with women. To Simons horror, James slowly starts taking over his life.
