Funky Hairstyles Run Amok In First Trailer For American Hustle

Funky hairdo’s run amok but the FBI attempt to drive out the corrupt within the American Government. Afro, perms and toupees at the ready watch the first trailer for David O Russell‘s American Hustle.

Loosely set around the events of the ‘Abscam’ in 1970’s which saw the FBI on a sting to wash out corruption amongst the government and Congress in general. Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), Sydney (Amy Adams)  a pair of con artists who are brought onboard  the scam  to capture the high profile officials by FBI man Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper).

When you see the array of  wigs, toupees and funky gear the cast had to wear you got to have some sense of fun and adventure to star in American Hustle. Whilst no revelations are revealed in the trailer (which was premiered on American TV yesterday) you get a feel of the tone we can expect from the film and what looks a crazy but fun ride. Ill be honest I wasn’t the biggest fan of Silver Linings Playbook however the film has given the director David O Russell even more street cred which will help make this one of the last big films to catch before the year is out.

Fantastic cast many we haven’t seen yet they are Robert De Niro, Jeremy Renner, Louis C.K. and Michael Peña with American Hustle arriving in UK&Ireland on Boxing Day 26th December (USA Christmas Day). So will it be American Hustle or The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty? Cinephiles once again your spoiled for choice this festive season!

Synopsis

A fictional film set in the alluring world of one of the most stunning scandals to rock our nation, American Hustle tells the story of brilliant con man Irving Rosenfeld (Christian Bale), who along with his equally cunning and seductive British partner Sydney Prosser (Amy Adams) is forced to work for a wild FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper). DiMaso pushes them into a world of Jersey powerbrokers and mafia that’s as dangerous as it is enchanting. Jeremy Renner is Carmine Polito, the passionate, volatile, New Jersey political operator caught between the con-artists and Feds. Irving’s unpredictable wife Rosalyn (Jennifer Lawrence) could be the one to pull the thread that brings the entire world crashing down. Like David O. Russell’s previous films, American Hustle defies genre, hinging on raw emotion, and life and death stakes.
