Based on the true story of  Solomon Northrup (Chiwetel Ejiofor) an educated and talented blackman born a freeman in New York, talented musician who finds himself abducted pushed into slavery.

Whilst his movie Shame divided audiences, critics 12 Years A Slave has a wider appeal and a appeal that stretches to possible Oscar talk especially for the film’s protagonist, British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor. This is a powerful trailer that does rise above the generic conventions, a shame part of not just American history but also British history and even has a relevance in today’s society.
