When a film whose first film was a complete disaster, you start the marketing for the sequel building such a buzz you’ve got everyone so excited about the release what’s the last thing you don’t want to do? Delay the release! That’s what Paramount Pictures did with John Chu’s GI Joe Retaliation delaying the release until this March 9 months after the original advertised date. Just as the film was sinking into the land that time forgot last month we got a reminder with a new UK trailer to remind us there is a film coming.
Weather you we’ll ever find out the true reason for the delay, be it 3D re-shoots, extended run in the editing suite will you be convinced for the first time or even be re-convinced GI Joe Retaliation is that fun film you grew to love many moons ago, Paramount may have Ninjatastic reason to get you to jump onboard once again. Below is an promo UK trailer which is predominately our flying ninjas kicking roody poo behinds to the sound of White Stripes’ Seven Nation Army. It’s obvious this scene is set up to show off the ‘3D’ on offer but this clip is only in 2D so this Friday if your in USA a 4 minute 3D preview will play in front of Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters, no word on when or if the same preview will play here we don’t know yet.
So when can you unleash that inner 12 year old? UK&Ireland will see GI Joe Retaliation on 27th March with USA 29th March, the film stars Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Adrianne Palicki, Jonathan Pryce,Walton Goggins, Ray Park, Byung-hun Lee, Elodie Yung, RZA, Ray Stevenson, and D.J. Cotrona.
In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.
