Tomorrow evening in Canada at the Toronto International Film Festival The Wachowskis/David Tykwer’s Cloud Atlas will make it’s world premier and to prep us up for the event we have a brand new trailer!
Back in July we got an epic 5 minute plus trailer which really gave us an idea of the size of the project the new trailer is only a mere 2 minutes 30 seconds and looks to pack more punch than the longer trailer. In this new trailer we do get to see is Tom Hanks, Halle Berry ,Jim Broadbent their daunting task of playing different but interlinked characters set in historical, contemporary and future settings. What we do here at The People’s Movies is seeing the glimpse of the Halle Berry scene with the car crash on the hill (and the image above) as it was virtually filmed on our doorstep in Glasgow, Scotland 4 weeks after Brad Pitt and his zombie hordes where in town last year.
How to describe the plot for Cloud Atlas is a difficult task due to the complex nature of the story as its 6 various running narratives all in various literature styles which may not make sense at first but there ‘all connected’ leading us up to big interconnected conclusion. What the critics are saying this is one of those films reading the book first to appreciate the film, which may mean breaking my tradition of film first book second. It’s daunting challenging task not just for the cast but also for the directors to make sure they deliver an honest, exciting and entertaining film, and tomorrow night everything will be revealed.
Cloud Atlas has a official UK release date of February 22nd 2013 for UK&Ireland (USA October 26th) and stars Hugo Weaving, Jim Sturgess, Doona Bae, Ben Whishaw, James D’Arcy, Xun Zhou, Keith David, David Gyasi, Susan Sarandon, and Hugh Grant.
*11th September – Big Thanks To Warner Bros who have sent us the UK version of the trailer
Based on the celebrated best-selling novel by David Mitchell and directed by acclaimed filmmakers Lana Wachowski, Tom Tykwer, and Andy Wachowski, the powerful and inspiring epic drama “Cloud Atlas” explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future. Action, mystery and romance weave dramatically through the story as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero, and a single act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution in the distant future.
