A week tomorrow John Hillcoat’s Lawless will arrive in UK&Irish cinemas which stars Shia LeBeouf in his first post Transformers film and tonight we have the trailer for the follow up film, The Company You Keep.
Directed and starring Robert Redford with LaBeouf playing a young reporter who discovers Redford a Civil Rights Lawyer might also be the leader of a 1970’s Militant of the Weather Underground movement forcing him to go on the run. I’m actually one of the very few people who did enjoy Redford’s last film The Conspirator, a film that was ripped to shreds by the critics however this one actually does potentially look like vintage Redford as in All Presidents Men political thriller. We don’t actually see much of the veteran actor but all about young Mr LaBeouf who is trying everything to be more sophisticated been more dramatic , I haven’t seen Lawless yet (review online this weekend) but the young actor is certainly pulling out all the stoppers to prove he’s more than just that nerd who had giant talking robots as friends!
Fantastic cast on show here with Susan Sarandon, Julie Christie, Sam Elliott, Brendan Gleeson, Terrence Howard, Richard Jenkins, Anna Kendrick, Brit Marling, Stanley Tucci, Nick Nolte, and Chris Cooper. No word on a UK or USA release date just yet butif your heading to Venice or Toronto Film festival you can catch this film.
Jim Grant (Redford), a civil rights lawyer and single father must go on the run when a brash young reporter (LaBeouf), exposes his true identity as a former 1970s radical fugitive wanted for murder. Sparking a nationwide manhunt, Grant sets off on a cross-country journey to clear his name.
