In the 1970’s they where the hardest cops on British television, UK’s answer to The Streets Of San Francisco Now back with a 21st Century new look, The Sweeney and today we have the New UK trailer.
In the original series it was all about John Thaw and Dennis Waterman (one of the few shows he never sung the theme song!)but now we have Ray Winstone and Ben Drew aka Plan B who are joined by Haley Atwell,(Captain America), Damien Lewis (Homeland), Steven Mackintosh (Underworld: The Rise of the Lycans) and Paul Anderson (The Firm). The new trailer (trailer one here) does have new footage giving a better understanding of the storyline especially who Jack Regan (Winstone) and George Carter(Ben Drew) are chasing, there is also a few shots of Damian Lewis character who seems to be a little untrustworthy. There is a quite bit of stylised dialogue here which may annoy at times, but the question I always ask when it comes to re-boots, big screen adaptations of tv shows to films, do we need a new version? Outside UK who knows about this show and will it transfer to the big screen with very few problems? All will be answered in September, apparently some UK blogs were invited by eOne entertainment to a preview of the film which seemed to have to get a decent feedback apart from Empire (1/5), maybe next screening eOne will remember The Peoples Movies and some positivity to The Sweeney!.
The Sweeney will be released September 12th.
