New ARGO International Trailer Needs Tommy Wiseau Inspiration To Make Fake Film

A new ARGO International trailer has sneeked online virtually unoticed seeking inspiration to save stranded American Embassy staff during the 1979 Iranian Revolution. The new trailer does come thanks from The Land Of Oz, the trailer is very similar to last month’s UK version though we do have a few extra new bits of footage to make this trailer well worth a look  as we get a slightly better understanding of the films plot too.

Based on true events, “Argo” chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis—the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades.  On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador. Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, a CIA “exfiltration” specialist named Tony Mendez (Affleck) comes up with a risky plan to get them safely out of the country. A plan so incredible, it could only happen in the movies.

I think I was one of the few people who didn’t enjoy The Town , however Argo does look a meaty prospect a film that I’m sure which will be essential viewing this Autumn . We do like the idea of the film based around the Wired article How the CIA Used a Fake Sci-Fi Flick to Rescue Americans from Tehran, I just wonder why Tommy Wiseau the brains behind the greatest ever worst film made is not inspiring Ben Affleck, mmm?Maybe he is!Overall it looks a strong film from Affleck and to really top that off he has assembled a fantastic cast too: Alan Arkin, Bryan Cranston, John Goodman, Zeljko Ivanek, Richard Kind, Scoot McNairy, Chris Messina, Michael Parks, Kerry BisheKyle Chandler, Tate Donovan, Clea DuVall, Victor Garber, and Taylor Schilling.

Argo will arrive in UK&Ireland on October 12th,2012.
